NOT ACCEPTED SCRAP METAL ITEMS (can provide pics with each too):

  • Pressurized tanks or cylinders (propane tanks, oxygen tanks, fire extinguishers) UNLESS VALVE OUT AND CUT IN HALF.
  • Sealed containers of any kind
  • Fuel tanks that have not been properly cleaned and certified (must have a hole in tank to see that it is cleaned out)
  • Oil, fuel, antifreeze, or chemical containers with residue
  • Paint cans (especially with liquid paint inside)
  • Asbestos-containing materials
  • Radioactive materials or medical waste
  • Explosives, ammunition, or flares
  • whole tires ( only exception is purchasing a vehicle with tires on.  Will accept 5 tires per vehicle for a $3 charge per tire)
  • Plastics, rubber, or fiberglass
  • Rocks, Concrete or stone
  • Wood, insulation, or drywall
  • Household garbage or construction debris
  • Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners that still contain refrigerant ( will accept for free if refrigerant not drained)
  • Transformers, capacitors, or equipment that may contain PCBs
  • Contaminated metal (oil-soaked, chemical-soaked, or heavily greased material)
  • Medical equipment that has not been decontaminated
  • Sharps or biohazard materials
  • Liquids of any kind
  • Common rule of thumb: If it is not primarily metal, is pressurized, contains liquids, or is hazardous/regulated, most scrap yards will not accept it without special handling or documentation.
